Controls Engineers



We are looking for degree-qualified multidiscipline Controls Engineers to provide creativity and problem solving skills to a range of ground-breaking medical-device, pharmaceutical and FMCG automation projects.
The best applicants will have a blend of hands-on practicality with good academic attainment, to address real world engineering problems efficiently. We solve a range of novel engineering machine systems problems, and our people develop a broad engineering capability and strong innovation skills.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
There is no “ideal” CV for our positions. Please read the following “essential” and “desirable” experience as guidance only. We recognise that engineers at different stages of their careers and with different experiences can bring different qualities to 3P.
Enthusiastic, energetic, bright, innovative, analytical, scientific, mathematical, attention to detail, good (and precise) written English and a sense of humour are all common desirable attributes that our clients frequently recognise within our engineers. The ability to work hard and collegiately with a number of different teams and to integrate within client teams are also common characteristics.
Essential:
- Experience in design of special-purpose machines.
- Coding of PLC’s and HMI’s.
- Skilled in problem solving methods and techniques.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Beckhoff & Siemens automation systems.
- Some coding experience in C#, Visual Basic or C++.
- Control of Servo drives and inverter AC drives.
- Networked IO systems.
- Awareness of Safety systems (E-stops and guarding).
- Experience of designing control systems for machinery and equipment for the Pharmaceutical industry or other regulated environment (e.g. ISO9000, TickIt, etc.).
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Commercially astute, with understanding of project costing and budget.
The successful candidate will join a small close-knit team of mechanical, electrical and control systems software engineers and will be flexible enough to make an immediate contribution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Professionally qualified with a minimum 2:1 in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science or similar discipline.
Desirable:
- Grade B or above in A-Level Maths and Physics.
