CNC Machinist

Location: Newbury, Berkshire
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (dependent on experience)
Employment Type: Permanent, full‑time

An established, high‑precision manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Offline 5‑Axis CNC Machinist (Programmer / Setter / Operator) to support the production of complex, tight‑tolerance components in a quality‑driven environment.

This is a hands‑on role, combining offline CNC programming with machine setup and operation. You’ll play a key part in process development, programme validation, fixturing, and continuous improvement, working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams.

• Offline programming, setting and operation of 4‑axis and 5‑axis CNC milling machines
• Validate and optimise CNC programs offline prior to shop floor release
• Create and maintain technical documentation including setup sheets, SOPs and LWIs
• Support manufacturability and quoting reviews for new components
• Set and run development work and production batches
• Use probing, calibration routines and datum/workplane alignment effectively

• Proven experience programming, setting and operating 4‑axis and 5‑axis CNC machines
• Strong understanding of machining complex components to tight tolerances
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T
• Experience with probing cycles, tool setting and work offset control
• Solid grounding in tooling, tool life management and process control
