We are not one for tooting our own horn, but if there is any time to do it then it’s today!

Last night some of the Orion team attended the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small companies’ awards night in Battersea, London.

It was announced that we placed 13th out of the 100 companies to work for 2017. This is a huge increase in ranking from 2016 where we placed 67th.

The Sunday Times gathers opinions about their managers, their working conditions and employer’s values direct from the people whose hard work builds the success of their business.

After our first attempt at winning the award in 2016 we decided we wanted to improve on our ranking for the following year. following the celebrations at the Best Companies Day, a Sunday Times committee was formed. This is where the members of the committee discussed the things we could do to make changes to help us to become a better company for our employees.

We handed out suggestion boxes and surveys, and once we gathered the results we put the requests of the staff into action straight away.

Our first improvement we made was introducing our health benefit package – our employees now have access to either a gym membership or life insurance on us. https://www.orionelectrotech.com/work-us/benefits-and-incentives

We also brought in our best incentive prize yet - the employees that hit their target will be jetting off to Dubai in March for a long weekend.

We also upped our game with the lunch club incentives – across the year the winners of the incentives have dined in some of the finest Michelin starred restaurants in the South East.

To celebrate our success and to thank all the staff we are hosting a wellbeing day at the Reading office. The staff will enjoy a private 15-minute massage and a large selection of gourmet buffet food where they will take some time out to celebrate coming 13th in the awards.

We are looking forward to seeing what number 2018 brings.
