Quality Engineer - The Opportunity
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join an established manufacturing business, sto take ownership of the Supplier Quality and preformance. The client works in a highly regualted sector and this individual will be responsible for the performance and quality of the suppliers, supporting project teams by ensuring key suppliers deliver critical parts on time, in full and to the required standard.
Quality Engineer - Key Responsibilities
- Supplier relationships, performance and the quality of their output
- Ensuring the key suppliers deliver critical items on time, in full and to the require standard
- Monitor progress of orders and manager suppliers
- Identify and mitigate any quality issues, risks and supply chain disruption
- Undertaking gate inspections, process witnessing and first article inspections (FAI)
- Carry out new supplier assessments, quality audits and maintaining supplier accreditation records
- Develop Supplier KPIs and metrics to monitor supplier performance, quality and to drive improvements.
- Undertake failure analysis, conduct root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, 8D, Ishikawa and implementing corrective actions.
Quality Engineer - About You
- Quality assurance experience in defence, aerospace or automotive manufacturing or experience in a similiar engineering environment.
- Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 Rev D
- Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Familiarity with both destructive and non-destructive techniques
- Ability to interpret engineering and electrical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing GT&D, defence and technical standards
- Confident with Lean methologies
- Confident, professional with excellent communication skills across all levels of the business
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently
