Machine Operator

Location: Somerset
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off – 12-hour shifts (Days & Nights)
Salary: £30,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for Machine Operators to join a busy manufacturing site near Somerset. The site operates a 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern covering both days and nights and supplies products directly to an on-site customer.

This role would suit someone with previous production or machine-operating experience, although full training will be provided. It is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to build or further develop their technical skills within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Machine Operator role:
  • Operating and monitoring production machinery to ensure output meets required quality standards
  • Carrying out routine checks for visual defects, weights, and tolerances, and completing associated paperwork accurately
  • Performing basic mechanical adjustments, fault finding, and minor remedial work within your level of competence
  • Supporting machine changeovers, cleaning, realignment, and general setup activities
  • Ensuring a consistent supply of materials to machines and escalating any issues to supervision promptly
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and food-safe working practices
  • Working safely at all times in line with site health & safety procedures
Skills & Experience required for this Machine Operator role:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment (preferred)
  • Experience or exposure to machine operation is advantageous
  • Mechanical aptitude or strong interest in machinery
  • Ability to work a rotating days and nights shift pattern
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
